What Genius publishes about its pricing

Genius Solutions, the Quebec City company behind Genius ERP, sells to small and mid sized custom, engineer to order and make to order manufacturers: machinery builders, sheet metal and fabrication shops, mold and die makers, tank and pressure vessel shops. Its public site commits to a few things that shape the number.

  • Pricing depends on shop size, number of users, hosting model and the modules you take
  • It runs in the cloud with subscription pricing, or on your own servers
  • Implementation is done by Genius's own team in three stages, with no outsourcing to a partner, and its FAQ says it takes 1 to 3 or more months
  • It claims 85 percent of its projects are delivered on time and on budget

There is a pricing calculator and an estimate by email. What there is not is a figure you can drop into a budget before talking to sales. Genius also grew in October 2025 by buying CDID, the maker of Prextra ERP, which took the company from about 125 to over 225 employees, so expect an established vendor with a formal sales process.

The Genius ERP cost estimates you will find online

Because Genius publishes nothing, the figures in circulation come from review and directory sites. They disagree by a factor of three, so read them as ranges.

Source What it says about Genius ERP pricing Per user per month, converted
ERP Research 80 to 175 USD per user a month; implementation 20,000 to 200,000 USD; support about 18 percent of license 80 to 175 USD
SoftwareConnect 1,500 USD per user per year about 125 USD
ITQlick Starts at 200 USD per user a month 200 USD
Capterra 3,000 USD per user per year about 250 USD
SelectHub Starts in the range of 500 to 1,000 USD, billed annually, quote based not stated per user

Why so wide? Some sites quote a cloud subscription, some an on premise license spread over a year, and some count a reduced module set. Older search snippets also mention a lighter cloud edition called GearUP at 49 USD per user a month with a five user minimum, but its pages no longer load, so we do not rely on it. The safe reading is that a full Genius ERP seat lands somewhere between 80 and 250 USD a month, and the quote will tell you where.

What actually moves a Genius ERP quote

  • Named users. Every planner, buyer, estimator and shop lead who logs in adds to the bill, so count the people who truly need to enter data, not everyone who wants to look
  • Modules. CAD2BOM, quality control, project management, analytics and the REST API are listed as separate capabilities; ask which ones are in the base package
  • Hosting. Cloud bundles hosting into the subscription. On premise moves the cost into your server and IT time, and may change the license model to perpetual plus maintenance
  • Integrations. Genius connects to SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Solid Edge for bills of materials, to QuickBooks, Sage and Dynamics GP for accounting, and to SigmaNEST, ProNest, Trumpf and Bystronic for nesting. Each one adds setup time to the implementation
  • Data cleanup. Item masters, routings and open jobs have to be loaded. If supplier invoices and packing slips still live on paper, software that pulls the data out of supplier invoices shortens the cleanup before go live
  • Training days. Genius trains in house; the number of sessions you buy is a line item

What Genius ERP costs over three years, worked through

Take a custom fabrication shop with 25 people where 8 need to work in the ERP: the owner, an estimator, a buyer, a planner, two shop leads, an engineer and someone in accounting. Using the estimates above and the low end of ERP Research's implementation range:

Scenario Per user per month Subscription for 3 years Implementation Three year total
Low, ERP Research 80 USD 23,040 USD 20,000 USD 43,040 USD
Middle, SoftwareConnect 125 USD 36,000 USD 20,000 USD 56,000 USD
High, Capterra 250 USD 72,000 USD 20,000 USD 92,000 USD

Implementation can run far higher than 20,000 USD for a shop with SOLIDWORKS, nesting and accounting integrations, so treat the right column as a floor. Genius's own guidance on ERP budgets is to plan 1 to 2 percent of annual revenue; for a shop doing 6 million USD a year that is 60,000 to 120,000 USD, which lines up with the middle and high rows once services are counted.

For comparison, ProductionPlanning.ai over the same three years is 2,682 USD on Line or 7,722 USD on Plant, with all 25 people included and no implementation fee. That is not a like for like comparison, and the next section says why.

Genius ERP pricing compared with a flat price per plant

What you pay for Genius ERP ProductionPlanning.ai
Pricing model Per user, quote only Flat per plant, published
Users Each user licensed Unlimited on every plan
Implementation Separate project, 1 to 3 or more months by Genius's FAQ None, first schedule the same day from a spreadsheet import
Quoting, BOM from CAD, purchasing, job costing, accounting Yes No
Finite capacity schedule with projected finish dates Yes, Drum Buffer Rope scheduling with what if and available to promise Yes, every machine against its real shifts
Entry price Quote 149 USD per plant a month

Genius is a full ERP for custom manufacturers, and its Smart Scheduling module uses Drum Buffer Rope, a Theory of Constraints method, with what if simulation and available to promise dates. If you need CAD driven bills of materials, quoting, purchasing and job costing replaced, Genius is a fair candidate and the price buys all of that. If quotes, purchasing and the books already work and the pain is jobs shipping late, you are pricing an ERP to fix a scheduling problem. That is where a job shop scheduling software subscription next to your current system costs a fraction and starts this week. The Genius ERP alternative page compares the two feature by feature and says where Genius is the better buy.

What to ask Genius on the pricing call

  • Is the price per named user or per concurrent user, and is there a minimum number of users?
  • Which modules are in the base package, and what do CAD2BOM, quality and analytics add?
  • What does the implementation quote include in days, data migration and training, and what is billed if it runs over?
  • What is the annual increase on the subscription, and is it capped?
  • Is support included in the subscription, or charged as a percentage of the license?
  • Which of our integrations, CAD, nesting and accounting, are standard connectors and which are custom work?
  • How long until we have a working schedule on the floor, not just a go live date?

Write the answers into one sheet with the same questions put to any other vendor on your list. Our best production scheduling software roundup and the DelmiaWorks alternative and Fulcrum alternative comparisons give you the same facts for the other systems custom shops usually shortlist.

Genius ERP pricing questions people ask

How much does Genius ERP cost?

Genius ERP does not publish a price. Third party estimates range from about 80 to 250 USD per user a month, with ERP Research at 80 to 175, SoftwareConnect at about 125, ITQlick from 200 and Capterra at about 250. Implementation is extra, estimated from 20,000 USD up, so an 8 user shop should budget roughly 43,000 to 92,000 USD over three years.

Does Genius ERP charge per user?

Yes. Genius says pricing depends on the number of users along with shop size, hosting and modules, and every directory that lists a price quotes it per user. Genius does not publicly state whether seats are named or concurrent, so ask on the call, because it changes the count for a shop running two shifts.

How long does Genius ERP implementation take?

Genius's own FAQ says anywhere from 1 to 3 or more months, delivered by its in house team in three stages. ERP Research estimates 3 to 6 months. The real driver is how clean your item masters, routings and open jobs are when the project starts, and how many CAD, nesting and accounting integrations you add.

Does Genius ERP have a free trial?

No. Capterra and ITQlick both list no free trial and no free version for Genius ERP. Evaluation happens through a guided demo with the sales team and the online pricing estimate. If you want to see your own schedule before any call, our demo loads a sample week of orders in a few minutes.

Is Genius ERP worth it for a small shop?

It is worth it for a custom or engineer to order shop that needs quoting, CAD driven bills of materials, purchasing, job costing and accounting in one system and has the time for a project of a few months. For a 10 to 30 person shop whose only real gap is late jobs, a scheduler at 149 to 429 USD a month next to the current system is the cheaper first step.

Does Genius ERP integrate with QuickBooks?

Yes. Genius lists QuickBooks among its accounting integrations, alongside Sage, Acomba, Microsoft Dynamics GP, ADP and Avalara. It also has its own accounting module, so ask which setup the quote assumes, because keeping QuickBooks changes both the modules you buy and the implementation scope.

Price the schedule before you price the ERP

Start on the Line plan at 149 USD a month with every person in the shop included, or run the demo on a sample week of jobs first. You will see which jobs will ship late and why the same afternoon, and you can still buy an ERP later.
